The sides often come apart, and the pads tend to fold in on themselves a bit. The adhesive strip is so tiny that most of the time I don't even bother - they don't stay in place either way. I don't use the adhesive, so I'm not sure how that works; I just pull the pads out of my bra when I nurse.
